This week in our classroom
Religion - Chapter 17
Math - We will identify intersecting, parallel, and perpendicular lines. We will be able to solve problems using the - Draw a Diagram strategy.
Reading - We will be starting a new theme - A New Home - The question for this theme is - What does community mean? - We will discuss the genre, realistic fiction and introduce new vocabulary and spelling words.
.Comprehension skills - Narrative elements - Characters, setting, and plot.
Reading skills - Drawing conclusions and making inferences.
Grammar - Identify adjectives and the nouns they describe.
Social Studies - Explain that the constitutions of New York and the United States are written plans of government that also protect individual rights. We will be able to list several rights granted in the Bill of Rights. Identify the first president of the U.S. and the capital where he was sworn in. Describe contributions made by John Jay and Alexander Hamilton.
Science - Explore how the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun move through space. Cycles of day and night - how Earth's tilt and its revolution around the sun cause the seasons. Discuss the phases of the moon.
