Tuesday, 5/15, Grades PK,1,2,3,and 4 will be having a FREE pizza for lunch from Dominoes courtesy of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in appreciation for the money raised by our students. Send lunch for your child if he/she does not want the pizza. Upper grades will have their pizza next Tuesday.
Weekly Synopsis:
Religion: Chapter 28 Sharing Faith in School and at Home. We will talk about the Holy Family. Silent prayer and why we pray, ways to pray.
Math: Chapter 29 - Addition and Subtraction of two digit numbers. Using mental math to add tens, place value and develop an understanding of the base ten system. We will do daily review of addition and subtraction, shapes and their attributes, time, measurement. All according to the new NYS Common Core Standards.
Social: Lesson 3 - Inventors and Inventions, Leson 4 How Travel Has Changed, Read a Bar Graph and read about Mae Jemison, the first African American woman in space.
Science: Lesson 1 - Properties of Matter. Lesson 2 - Solids. In this unit we will recognize that all things are made of matter and the properties of solids, liquids, gases.
LA/Reading: Read “What Brad Found” and “Ebb and Flo and the Baby Seal” remember author and illustrator. Vowel diphthong /ou/ow, phonograms -out, -ow. Spelling and Robust Vocabulary words, comprehension, using am, is and are. Introduce how to write a book review. Review plot, setting and characters. Read the non-fiction article “Fellini the Fur Seal.”
Spelling: how, cow, down, out, found, round, try, light, earth, table, kinds, hear, remembered, eyes, clear, fooling, answered, baby, done, heard, pools, pushed, together
Homework:
Monday: Read “What Brad Found”
Spelling: Write the first 7 spelling words in ABC order.
Robust Vocabulary: write 1x
Quivered - if something quivered, it shook, shivered, or trembled quickly
Wailed - if you wailed, you let out a long loud cry because you were upset about something or in pain.
