Students in Grades K through 8 have computer class twice a week in our state of the art Computer Lab. The lab is equipped with 33 computers running Windows 7 Professional, a Windows Network Server, and all have T1 Internet access.
Students become familiar with the computer and its components. In addition, the students become at ease with the Windows environment through simple applications as they begin. Research skills with Encarta electronic encyclopedia and the Internet are taught beginning in the 3rd Grade. As they advance, more in-depth work in Word Processing is taught, along with Database management, and spreadsheets using the Microsoft Office.
Cross-curricular projects using research skills and a variety of programs including Publisher, PowerPoint, and web page design/programming will constitute the majority of the curriculum in the upper grades. Keyboarding skills are taught at all levels.
Safe use of the Internet is stressed. (Every student and parent must sign an acceptable use policy before Computer access is permitted.) A copy of this policy will be sent home with every child. Each student must fill out the Student/Parent Contract at the bottom of the page and return to school. Both you and your child must sign the form. Failure to do so will prevent your child from using the School Computers. Thank you for your help and cooperation as we continue to integrate technology into our curriculum.
