Weekly Synopsis
Math - This week we will continue to review intensely for the New York State Math Exam April 25-27th. Please make sure your child is studying at home NIGHTLY.
Social Studies - This week we will finish working on a project to help our understanding of the Great Depression. Most of the project will be done in class. We will be typing the essay in the computer lab. I will have students writing parts of their essay at home in order to speed up the process in the computer lab. The requirements are listed below.
Great Depression Project
You will examine primary sources to develop a sense of the profound impact the Great Depression had on real people’s lives. You will learn about the New Deal programs and agencies created under the leadership of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. You will then create an essay to show your understanding of the Great Depression and how the New Deal affected people’s lives.
Your essay must contain the following:
A. A cover
B. Table of contents
C . New Deal Chart
D. Introduction
E. Interview
i. What experiences and problems occurred to the interviewee during the depression
ii. Explain at least 2 New Deal programs or organizations that could have provided help
iii. How those programs specifically helped the interviewee
iv. What the interviewee has been doing since the end of the Great Depression or since the last interview
F. Analysis of photographs (2)
G. Analysis of song (1)
H. Conclusion
Your essay must be typed single spaced, standard margins and times new roman or arial font size 12.
